From March 4th to 7th, a select group of our 7th to 11th grade students travelled to Medellín to participate in Columbus School’s United Nations model (COSMUN) as representatives from CAS. After multiple interviews, these students were selected to represent our school.
On our first day of the COSMUN during the inauguration, we immediately felt a clear sense of culture shock, not only because of differences in accent, but also in manner and expressiveness. While most of us were quite intrigued by this new culture that we were being introduced to, the excitement of debate was the focus of our trip.
The next two days consisted of heated and passionate debates which demonstrated the prestige of our host and the attending schools, further improving our whole experience at COSMUN. Personally, my experience was amazing because of the opportunity to meet many talented delegates and participants from whom I learned many skills that will be useful in upcoming models, even our own MUNCAS. Through this experience, the base committee of MUNCAS grew and developed new ideas that will compliment our next model.
I would like to specifically congratulate the CAS students who received a recognition for their exceptional participation and hard work: Isabella Estupiñan, Gabriela Córdoba, Sara Montaño, Santiago Gómez and José Alejandro Reyes. These students deserve acknowledgement for proudly representing our school! Additionally, the attending teachers and administrative staff who allowed us to go on this trip deserve our thanks, specifically: Ms. Estefanía Bohorquez, Mr. Juan Carlos Angel and Mr. Ricardo Toncón, for their unconditional support and guidance throughout this experience.
