Nowadays, everybody is talking about technology, artificial intelligence and coding, but many of us kids or teens ask why is programming important? Programming is important because it will be a very valuable tool in the future, as well as one of the better paid professions.
Today, programming has undergone a great revolution in areas such as: video games, the web, security, data bases, machine learning, robots, crypto coins, blockchain and education; as a result, these areas will be even better in the future – if our technology is already advanced now, imagine the future: We can make the world a better place.
But why learn to program if AI already does it itself?
Eric Schmidt, the ex-CEO of Google says, “It seems like these systems will require you to write code, but remember systems also have interfaces called APIs, so you can program those same systems.”
It is useful to know how these systems work; if you know how to program and how to use Ais, such as ChatGPT or Copilot, you can do a lot. Additionally, AI isn’t always perfect, and it will never be, but a knowledgeable human using AI will have better results than AI itself. Also, did you know that approximately 40% of what you use every day is made with code? When you learn to program you can understand the technology that you are already using.
raming isn’t just for work or other useful pursuits; it can also be fun: you can program very cool games. When you learn to program, you can unleash your creativity with digital art and other tools, including music and video making and editing, movie production, and games. Nevertheless, a student who invests their time in learning to program, can find themselves in a good job with a very good salary. It is also a fantastic challenge to create a working program.
I like programming because I find it challenging, but the result is very satisfying, especially when I make very cool and useful tools or games. I want to make people happy, but I want a difficult challenge occasionally.
Imagine a sun-powered planet with a lot of useful technological tools; maybe you could make some those tools – maybe you could help make the world better. Programming can make a difference; it can make the world a better place. There are many reasons why programming is important, but it is up to you to start.
