CAS Students Stand Out at Cambridge IGCSE Exams as “Top in Colombia”
A years-long journey to create a heart-felt appreciation for knowledge has brought well-deserved international recognition to tenth graders David Corrales, Sheina Moreno and Sara Juliana Rodriguez.
After being part of the Cambridge pathway inside CAS classrooms, these students received the “Top in Colombia” award that recognizes the highest scores in specific subjects across the IGCSEs, and among all the candidates who took these examinations in the November 2024 series. The ceremony took place at Javeriana on June 17th, as the faces of attendees lifted with pride and excitement throughout.
English as First Language, Spanish as First Language, Mathematics and Computer Science were the subjects in which CAS students excelled at.
As the number of recognitions increases, it is worth wondering: What is the formula to be “Top in Colombia”? Is there an A+B+C that leads to success?
It was proven that the key to success lies in the actions taken by students every single day in achieving their goals. Discipline, autonomy, responsibility, honesty, resilience and academic knowledge are part of this winning blend, but a love for knowledge is the underlying force that powers and motivates students to put their full effort into discovering new things, having a long-lasting curiosity, facing challenges and overcoming difficulties with the ultimate purpose of learning.
Love for knowledge is not exclusive to students; teachers play a key role in keeping curiosity alive. Passion, motivation, and balance between academic rigour and rapport are game changers when teaching and learning.
David, Sheina and Sara Juliana have proved that integrity, hard work, dedication and the constant support of families, teachers, and classmates will certainly pay off.
