This cycle, second grade students celebrated the grand opening of their year-long project entitled Our Home Bogotá. This initiative is designed to help students explore and connect with their city in meaningful ways.
Teachers created interactive learning hubs in shared spaces, each offering a unique experience related to Bogotá’s rich culture and identity. During the launch event, the students got their first glimpse into Bogotá´s culture by playing traditional games, tasting typical foods, identifying local plants and wildlife, exploring famous landmarks and learning the city’s geography through hands-on activities and storytelling.
The main goal of the Our Home Bogotá project is to encourage students to become active participants in their community and to develop a sense of belonging and pride in their city. Teachers emphasized that this project is just the beginning, laying the foundation for more classroom and community-based activities throughout the school year.
With this strong start, students are on their way to becoming young citizens who understand and appreciate the place they call home.
