At Colombo American School, the true “Characters of the Month” are not found on a stage, or on a sports field, they are found at home. This February, our CAS families became inspiring examples of compassion and generosity by coming together to support the people of Córdoba affected by a recent natural disaster.
From February 20th to 25th, our community answered the call to help by donating food, clothing, and essential supplies for those in need. This meaningful campaign was led by the school’s Human Development team: Henry Rivera, Paola Tovar, Zulma Jiménez, and Claudia Arango, whose dedication and leadership made this initiative possible.
Thanks to the commitment and kindness of our families, a significant number of donations were collected and entrusted to the Cruz Roja Colombiana, the organization responsible for delivering these contributions directly to Córdoba.
This effort beyond providing material aid, reflects the values we strive to nurture in our students. By involving their children in acts of service, CAS families are teaching one of the most important lessons of all: empathy. These actions remind us that education is not only about knowledge, but also about forming individuals who care deeply about others and take action to make a difference.
In the attached video, we can see our preschool students actively participating by helping pack the donated items. Their enthusiasm and sense of purpose demonstrate that even the youngest members of our community can contribute to meaningful change.
To all the families who generously gave and shared this experience with their children: thank you! You have shown that solidarity starts at home, and your actions have made a real impact on the lives of many.
You are, without a doubt, our CAS Characters of the Month.
