Like any great construction, this year’s Language Day was not the product of chance, but of a carefully planned design. Its foundations were built upon teamwork, student autonomy, communication, and reflection—principles that guided every decision made by the Language Department, the true architects of this experience.
Last Wednesday, April 22, the school celebrated one of the most significant cultural events in its community. This edition stood out not only for its creativity, but also for the meticulous way in which different elements of the curriculum were integrated to shape a coherent and meaningful experience.
The structure of the event was supported by the articulation of the reading plan, classroom projects, and the development of artistic and communicative skills. Each grade contributed a key piece to this construction: sixth grade explored communication in Ancient Greece; seventh grade gave voice to the traditions of Boyacá through a radio program; eighth grade recreated news broadcasts and media formats from the 1990s; and ninth grade built memory through the writing of postcards.
The highlight of this architectural design was evident during the opening ceremony, where senior students presented a dramatization that served as the central pillar of the event. Through this performance, they offered a critique of the media and the ways in which it can shape and influence its audiences. A total of 75 students participated in the production, showcasing a range of skills including dance, theatre, music, logistics, and the use of technological resources.
The day concluded with a performance by Trevejos of Crónica de una muerte anunciada, the acclaimed novel by Gabriel García Márquez, a work that has received both national and international recognition.
More than just an event, Language Day was a collective construction that invited reflection on language not only as a means of expression, but as a force that shapes society. From CASNEWS, we extend our sincere congratulations to the Language Department for their outstanding management and strong leadership, which made this meaningful, rigorous, and memorable experience possible for the entire educational community.
