The school’s robotics team, made up of Elementary and High School students selected by robotics teacher Oscar Cardona, recently participated in important interschool competitions. This group brings together students who have shown a special interest in technology, programming, and innovation, standing out not only for their talent but also for their commitment, discipline, and passion for learning.
During 20 days of intensive preparation, students took on the challenge of designing, building, and programming their robots using technologies such as LEGO EV3 and mBot. The entire process was 100% carried out by the students –with guidance from the teacher– strengthening key skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving. The competitions took place on April 10th and 17th at the Colombo Gales School and Las Pachas School, respectively. At Colombo Gales, the team achieved second place in both sumo and line-following categories, reflecting the effort behind their preparation.
Our participation was also part of high-impact events such as PachasBOT, which brings together hundreds of students and promotes robotics, teamwork, and technological education. In addition, this experience was featured in a publication by El Tiempo, highlighting the relevance and impact of these initiatives. As a team, we understand that this is only the beginning of a continuous learning journey, and we aim to improve our preparation time and further develop our skills to achieve even better results in future competitions.
