Knowing that this was going to be the last English Day I would witness at school, I had very high expectations. At the same time, I felt excited, nostalgic, and responsible. English Day has always been more than a school event. It is an opportunity to celebrate creativity, teamwork, confidence, and the effort that students put into communicating in another language. I wanted to enjoy every moment, support my classmates, and contribute something meaningful to an event that has given us many memorable experiences.
However, before the preparations began, I faced a situation that made me doubt whether I would be able to participate. I had recently undergone an operation, and my recovery meant that I could not dance for a long time. Since dancing is an important part of English Day for me, I was disappointed and worried that I would have to watch from the sidelines. Fortunately, I recovered sooner than expected. Regaining my ability to move little by little made me appreciate the opportunity even more, and it reminded me not to take my health or these school moments for granted.
After speaking with my teacher, I was given an exciting new responsibility. I would lead the dance section of the event. This conversation changed my perspective completely. Instead of focusing on what I might not be able to do, I began to think about how I could guide others and help create a performance that represents our group. Taking charge of the choreography is a challenge because it requires organization, patience, clear communication, and the ability to listen to everyone’s ideas. We need to choose movements, practice consistently, adapt to different abilities, and make sure every participant feels included and confident on stage.
I am looking forward to English Day with enthusiasm and gratitude. I hope the final performance shows not only our preparation, but also the resilience behind it. As I take part in my last English Day, I want to remember that challenges can become opportunities when we face them together with courage, commitment, and a constantly positive spirit.
