As part of the Nursery project, our students participated in an enriching educational experience with a visit to the farm. This activity, allowed the children to directly connect classroom learning with real-life experiences, reinforcing important concepts in a meaningful and memorable way.
During our farm tour, the students had the chance to see farm life with real animals. They attempted to milk a cow, they fed pigs, rabbits, goats, sheep, and chickens. They were able to recognize each animal and identify the sounds they make by mimicking the learning from our classroom games. Our little students were able to experience nature and observe how animals are raised in a loving and responsible way. It was also a way for the children to see how food is produced and all the work that goes into it.
They saw the commitment, passion, and responsibility of caring for an agricultural setting and they learned that animals need love, attention, and daily care. These are the type of first-hand life lessons that make significant contributions to the development of respect, empathy, and responsibility.
This activity was perfect to support many of our project goals, such as creating curiosity, encouraging observation, and appreciating nature. More than just a day out, the farm visit was a truly enriching experience that strengthened our curriculum while promoting our children’s social and emotional development.
