Personal Finances
Some time ago, Sergio Rubio, from Colombo American School, visited my school to give us a talk about personal finances. The talk was about how to manage our money and make better financial decisions. I found the activity very interesting because I learned things that I can use in my daily life and in the future.
One of the things I liked the most was learning the difference between a need, a want, and a luxury. A need is something important for our lives, such as food, transportation, or education.
A want is something we would like to have, but we can live without it. A luxury is something that is not necessary and is usually more expensive. I think knowing the difference is very important because sometimes we spend money on things that we do not really need.
Sergio also talked about priorities and how important it is to organize our money. He shared some details about his personal story, and I found it motivating because it showed me that managing money is not always easy. He also explained that having a salary does not mean that you have a lot of money because there are many expenses in everyday life. Sometimes, money can disappear very quickly if we do not know how to manage it.
Personally, I really liked the talk because I think this information can help me in my life. I can apply what I learned by thinking before buying something, saving some of my money, and asking myself if something is really necessary. I also want to learn how to manage my future salary and give priority to the most important things.
In my opinion, learning about finances from a young age is very important. It can help us make better decisions and prepare for adult life. Sergio Rubio’s talk was an interesting experience because it taught me something that I can use not only at school, but also in my everyday life and in my future.
