As part of the classroom project Messages Through Time, our Transition students enjoyed an exciting educational field trip to the Telecommunications Museum at Universidad Militar Nueva Granada. During the visit, they discovered how people communicated in the past by exploring the evolution of the radio, telegraph, computers, telephones, typewriters, and televisions. They also visited the former Telecom exhibition, where they learned about the company through an impressive scale model and historical artifacts.
To complete the experience, the children participated in a hands-on workshop where they created their own telephones using plastic cups and nylon string. This fun activity helped them understand how sound travels while reinforcing what they had learned throughout the visit. The students had a wonderful time and gained a deeper appreciation of how communication has changed over the years, making it possible to send messages faster and more efficiently thanks to technological advances.
