On August 14, our school celebrated English and French Day, giving students from all grades the opportunity to explore their creativity through different artistic movements. The event encouraged us to express ourselves through art and language while learning about artistic styles from different periods and places around the world. Throughout the day, students enjoyed an opening ceremony, a variety of activities prepared by students from 6th to 11th grade, and a fashion show that brought the celebration to a memorable close. As activity coordinators for our grade, we realized that the activities prepared by each grade were one of the highlights of the day and played an important role in bringing the school community together.
As we planned and led our own activity, we learned more about the Bauhaus movement and its influence on art and design. We explored its connection to modernism and minimalism, as well as its lasting cultural significance. We wanted our classmates to experience some of the ideas behind Bauhaus, so we created an interactive building activity in which participants could use different objects and materials to create their own designs. Behind the activity itself, there was also a great deal of work involved in decorating, organizing, and coordinating every detail. This process taught us that teamwork and dedication are essential when you want to successfully bring an idea to life.
When the rotations came to an end, the fashion show brought the celebration to a spectacular close. Students from 6th to 11th grade walked down the runway wearing outfits inspired by the artistic movements they had studied. Although many of them were nervous at first, they soon gained confidence and proudly showcased their creations. Each artistic movement had its own unique style, including Bauhaus, and the different outfits made the runway feel like a moving exhibition of art and creativity.
Teachers also played a special role in the fashion show, participating as both commentators and models. Seeing our teachers step outside their usual roles and enjoy the experience alongside their students brought an extra sense of energy and excitement to the event. Their enthusiasm showed us that creativity and self-expression are not limited to the classroom or to students, they can be shared by the entire school community.
Summarizing, English and French Day was filled with creativity, talent, excitement, and unforgettable moments. More importantly, it helped us recognize the important role that art plays in our lives and how it can influence the way we see the world around us. Throughout the day, we discovered that art can be expressed through fashion, activities, performances, and even words. We simply need to be open to recognizing it, appreciating it, and finding our own ways to express it.
